I haven't been posting much at all lately due to college classes eating up my time, but I thought I'd provide an update to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that I posted about last month and share my thoughts on the 2014 F-150 EcoBoost 4x4 that I got a few chances to drive.

It took a few weeks to get the money we needed - we contacted the other driver's insurance early on and waited for them to do the same, then called again when we'd had enough of waiting. After that, we waited until my spring semester was over to send the Focus into the body shop for three days. They had to replace a couple more damaged parts that they didn't catch during their initial appraisal, but they still got it done on USAA's dime in three days. It looked as good as new when we went to pick it up last week, save for a ding on the left rear door that I noticed prior to sending the Focus in for repairs - I'll get PDR done on that later.

They detailed the car inside and out, so it was clean aside from some gunk on the shifter that came off without any trouble and a scuff on the dash. Curiously enough, the 5-speed felt much more direct when I drove the Focus back home than it did before, though it might've just been a difference in how I was shifting it.

My dad wanted to get a truck to take a couple of mattresses and some other stuff to the dump, so he went to the Enterprise desk at the shop and rented this 2014 F-150 4x4 with about 2,100 miles on it. I love the way the EcoBoost engine pulls and the way it sounds; I was grinning every time I drove the F-150. The steering was rather numb, but it was light enough that negotiating turns with the truck was easier than I thought it'd be. It also had a front bench seat, which is cool, and the ride was pretty good too. Overall, it was great to drive.

My biggest gripe with the truck is how it got kind of squirrelly under hard braking (it sounded like the wheels locked up), though the brakes themselves were pretty strong. I'd have liked to have the backup camera on other F-150s, and it was tough to see anyone that was riding my ass because this was a high-riding full-size truck, but I figure I'd say the same of the Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500.

I love that my car is fixed and that the drive back home was great, but I'm going to miss that truck.
